As a child life specialist, I use my own strengths to empower children and families who are hospitalized to engage theirs. I nurture their space with positive and supportive energy so they, in turn, can nurture one another. I remind them to play; I remind them that they are each other's most valuable resources. I prioritize them so they, too, can prioritize themselves. I help them make the hospital feel more like home - a safe and comforting space for holistic healing. As a child life specialist, I feel a humbling sense of purpose.
